How do I perform audits, PPAPs, and 8Ds remotely?
Empower QLM provides a cloud-based collaboration portal allowing you to manage all processes virtually from anywhere. Self-assessment, offsite, and onsite audits can all be done virtually. PPAP can be automated using smart workflow technology. 8D verifications can be achieved with remote approval management.
The technology offers a template-based solution to simplify audits, PPAPs, and 8Ds by using standards from an existing library. Easily select a template then send an audit, PPAP, or 8D request to suppliers via the portal and monitor progress in real-time. Suppliers can submit all audit responses and evidence, PPAP elements, or 8D elements for evaluation, including attached documents, pictures, and videos.
You can also leverage Empower QLM’s global team to act on your behalf in an onsite, in-person capacity. Use an Empower QLM auditor to conduct onsite audits. Use one of Empower QLM’s certified quality engineers to review PPAP requirements or 8D corrective and preventive actions in-person. In addition, live video sessions can be held for any in-person audit, PPAP, or 8D visit using Empower QLM as the supporting platform.
Empower QLM has scheduling, progress status, and submission performance dashboard features to ensure full visibility, traceability, and transparency of all your requirements.
What tools with live feed can be used to perform a remote audit or remote visit?
Using Empower QLM in conjunction with a live video meeting is a very effective alternative to onsite visits. Some exceptions apply if your customer or standard requirement do not allow remote audits/visits.
Solutions include:
- Remote – use self-service tools via Empower QLM Technology to conduct a full virtual visit.
- In-person – you travel to conduct an onsite visit or leverage Empower QLM’s global team to conduct an onsite visit on your behalf.
- Hybrid – conduct an onsite visit in conjunction with a live video session and virtual streaming of the visit.
How can I review and approve an audit without having witnessed the evidence?
With Empower QLM, all evidence can be uploaded and linked to the appropriate sections, including files, pictures, and videos, so evidence is relevant, organized, and available instantly in the cloud, accessible from anywhere.
How do I ensure my team is always using the latest information?
With Empower QLM, not only all the information is stored live in the cloud, smart links connect information and alerts can be initiated to make sure your team is continuously notified as projects are progressing.
Are virtual solutions a complete replacement for in-person, onsite quality activities?
Empower QLM cannot confirm that all customers will accept virtual solutions in lieu of traditional practices for quality management. However, many of Empower QLM’s clients are successfully using the technology (sometimes in conjunction with Empower QLM services) to perform audits, PPAPs and 8Ds remotely.
Does the VDA organization recognize “virtual” audits?
No, VDA still does not recognize virtual/remote audits. Empower QLM has a global team of VDA certified auditors who can support your needs in most countries if an onsite visit is required.
